I need a little help from my fellow historical novel readers. I read a book last year, which was part of a series. I unfortunately cannot remember the title, or author.
I believe the book may have been the fourth in the series and the fifth hadn't been written yet. The story is about a wealthy white adventurer from Africa, who was raised partially by a warrior tribe. He is married to a woman whom he rescues from a cruel German industrialist during WWI. He rescued her after shooting down the blimp she was in. (This all happened in the previous book). This book opens in the mid 1920's and they have a 7 year old daughter. The mother dies of a heart attack (?), and the father has to raise her alone. We find out as the story develops that the mother was actually a spy for the British government in WWI, and from a series of events the daughter ends up being courted by the British to be a spy in WWII. The book I read had a yellowish/buff colored cover, with a medal centered on it. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I would love to read all of the previous books in the series.
