My first thought was one of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novels.  It's not a main plot point or anything, but there is a new mom doing a lot of nursing in "The Fiery Cross," and I can also remember a brief, but positive description of what it's like to breastfeed from a minor character in the first novel, "Outlander".

Subject: Depictions of Breastfeeding?

Hi all,

We're partnering with our local health department for World
Breastfeeding Week and they asked us if we could put together a
reading list of novels with positive depictions of nursing. I'm
stumped. I consider myself a breastfeeding advocate, but I just can't
think of any novel I've read that fits the description.
