I, too am very interested to hear what is changing about your patrons' reading habits and requests.  

And I totally agree with Andrew about being surprised - people are still shocked that we will help them find some good reads (perhaps b/c they see us spending too much time unjamming the printer).  It may help boost circulation (numbers, you know) but it results in a more EFFECTIVE transaction and a more SATISFIED taxpayer.  A few days ago I talked with a man who was shocked that 1) we would purchase titles he was interested in (b/c no one else read them) and 2) what he liked to read was pretty popular - you know, your basic suspense thrillers . . . then we talked about espionage fiction and my supervisor told me that the guy was totally in love with me.  Go figure . . .
