If she would be okay with a cozy series, she may like EJ Coppeman's Haunted Guest House series.   The main character is a sassy, newly divorced woman who opens a guest house on the Jersey Shore, only to find out shortly after purchase that it is haunted. She works out a deal with the ethereal tenants to help investigate matters of the ghostly kind if they will behave and help her run her business.
