Ann B. Ross's Miss Julia series, as well as mysteries by Victoria Houston and Philip R. Craig/William Tapply, might fit the bill.

Subject: CD book recommendations for 91 year-old father

Greetings Great Brain,

A patron came in today looking for recommendations for books on CD for
her 91 year-old father. Our staff gave her several but she seemed to
want more and was very pleased when I said I would ask around--that's
where you all come in. :)

The patron said her father likes--

--mysteries without a lot of sex
--Jan Karon's Mitford series
--history

The patron also requested Little Britches by Ralph Moody even though
it's a youth book because she thought he would find it interesting.

If you have any suggestions you'd like to share, please do! I'll pass
them on to the patron. Thanks very much!
