Not a dog, but Pax by Sara Pennypacker features a pet fox who lives. A minor character, an older fox, dies though.

Oh, goody, Sara has started a thread and provided a great idea for a display, or a read-alikes 'on a theme' list! :-)

Sticking with just fiction (as there have been a number fairly recent NF titles on the 'unknown/little known wives of famous men' theme as well), add following to the list:
-- Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Fowler
-- A Traitor's Wife: A Novel of the Woman Behind Benedict Arnold and the Plan to Betray America by Allison Pataki

In October, there will be a new one for the list:
-- The Other Einstein: A Novel by Heather Terrell PLUS if you go back to 1999

And if you go even further back to 1999, there is also:
-- Ahab's Wife: Or, the Star-Gazer: A Novel by Sena Jeter Naslund

Enjoy!
Lucy

I'm curious - is your list going to be for patrons in the form of a readers advisory list or a display? And will you give away the spoiler that the
dog(s) don't die? I really love your idea, as I refuse to read books where the animals die in the end (dumb quirk of mine) ..just wondering how you're going to present it?

Thanks!

I definitely second domestic thrillers and biofiction (although I am sick of this already).

Also genre blends like historical mystery, historical fantasy (medieval and/or Vikings) and so forth

The latest Adriana Trigiani book is a biofiction of Loretta Young and a relationship with Clark Gable. Listened to it, but it was not a favorite.
