Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series is a good read-alike. Also
try David and Leigh Eddings's Belgariad books, starting with "Pawn of
Prophecy," "The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and "The Way of
Kings" by Brandon Sanderson.
