This is for me, so there's no great rush. It also isn't fiction, but maybe someone here will recognize it.
Some years ago--I can't even remember when, except that it was probably since 1999--I read a nonfiction book about the life and institutions of small towns, probably before WW2. I don't remember the title or the author (and how many times do we all hear *that*?); I only remember that the dj was some sort of photo with a dark, piney-green sort of border. Inside there were many photos, some color, some sepia, dating from about the 1890's on. The chapters covered things like holidays, courtship, and so on. I know I bought a copy for myself; now I can't find it in my personal library or the one here in town (which I know is where I originally borrowed it--it may, of course, have been pruned). I looked in my Amazon history and don't see it.
Does anyone recognize this book? I want to replace my missing copy.
