If you're into the MMOs, my personal favorite MMO-related light novel series are: * Log Horizon, which feels like a love letter to fantasy-themed MMOs * Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online, which is a military shooter setting (written by the author of Kino's Journey, not the original Sword Art Online author) Another Japanese series that might appeal is Record of Lodoss War. You might also like the Midkemia series by Raymond E. Feist. Start with Magician: Apprentice.
